Letter Of Gratitude

Dear Jacky

When I sat down to write this letter of gratitude there were a thousand names in my mind. I am thankful for every person I have ever met because every one of them has changed my life. I picked you Jacky because you are the person who showed me how to be myself. You were my first new friend in high school and it was the first time I had a friend that I didn't feel I had to act like someone I wasn't just to fit in. Instead of likening something that I wasn't really interested in we had common likes and dislikes. I was myself and didn't feel like I had to hide it. I'm not even going to mention how great it is to have jam sessions with you. You are a good guy Jacky thanks for being my friend.

Also I am sorry for not writing this letter to my parents or brother or any of my other great friends, you are all important to me. I promise.

Censored Learning

I am not in favour of censored learning because it is like blocking a creative outlet for students or silencing a individual who might be trying to speak out or ask for help. The fact that there are some groups of people that can simply tell a student to not write or read something because it scares them just discourages me. To some students reading a book could be a way of escaping a harsh reality by flying on brooms with wizards or hiding from the light with vampires. Writing stories or poetry could be a student's way of reaching out to a teacher to ask for help, or just a way for them to express themselves and get something heavy on their chest. I do not believe that if a individual writes something or draws something that might be considered alarming, it should be ignored, but I also think that it should be discussed with the student before accusations are made getting them in trouble.

About the Author

Hello fellow humans. My name is Mitchell this post is just to tell you a little about myself.
As you may have deciphered from my introduction I am a human; I am a teenage male writing this blog as a school project for my creative writing class. You should all know that I am 6 foot 7, have a full beard, speak seven languages fluently and I am a compulsive liar. No, in all honesty I am only 5 foot 4, my beard is a Halloween prop and speak only English except for when I need to order food in another province. I am a musician. In fact, that is the reason I am in a creative writing class, I am working on making my own material. I play guitar, sing, play bongos, dabble at piano and throw down the occasional riff on the ukulele but for the life of me can't figure out how to play guitar hero. I enjoy the musical style of Will Ferrell, cause let's face it, music always needs more cow bell (to the 15 people in the world that got that joke, I love you. To the rest of you it was hilarious) I also enjoy most music that isn't pop country or metal and I love the occasional jazz instrumental record.
At the moment I am working the last few weeks of my job as a pizza vender. I am not being sacked, my job ends in October cause I live in Canada and any later than that we would have to serve our pizza with snow as a given topping. Unfortunately, it is nearing time that I part with my pizza boy job cause the winters in Canada are just to long and I am about ready to beg for money outside of the downtown stores when January comes around. This will be all for now cause I have work in the morning and my War album is almost over, but I will leave you with this "Why Can't We Be Friends?"

The key to success

The "Ted Talks" video "Angela Lee Duckworth: The key to success? Grit" informs with the audience that the most successful people are not nessisarialy the most knowledgable people. The  narrator of the video "Angela" goes on to lecture that the most successful people are the ones with passion; the ones who aren't afraid to fall because they know they can just get back up. Angela talks about the possibilities of this information and how it can be taught to children to produce a more successful generation and brings up something called "Growth Mind Set". Growth Mind Set is a learning strategy that teaches that it is ok to fall, because it is through falling that we learn to land on our feet. There is still lots to learn about Angela's "Grit" theory but holds the potential for great outcomes and I fully support it.
